Are you caring for a child, adolescent, teen, adult or older adult who has a serious emotional disturbance or mental health health issue?

We provide information about the illnesses and available treatments, and assistance in obtaining help from the mental health system.

Talk to someone who knows what you are going through. All of our staff at FERC are family members / caregivers ourselves. We've been there. We can help.  Please call our toll free warm line at 888-896-3372

Free Support and Services

Information
We can provide you with detailed information about the mental health service system; how it works and the services available to people with serious emotional disturbances or mental illness in Alameda County.

Referrals
We can help you find the agency or service you need. If you need more than a referral, we can contact services for you, aid you in making appointments, and assist you if you are having challenges in dealing with a mental health or other service agency.

Advice and Assistance
Our family advocates can offer you options in navigating the complex service systems and encouragement, as you learn to cope with mental illness in your family. We offer a sympathetic ear and help in sorting out these options for making your decisions.

Caregiver Support
We will help you locate family/caregiver support groups to assist in learning self care techniques.

Education
We can aid you in educating yourself on the nature of mental illnesses, current treatment options, and research. We have a variety of pamphlets and articles, reading lists, and a lending library with a variety of books, CDs, and DVDs available for families to check out for home use. We are continuously growing the number and type of educational resources in other languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Farsi, and Vietnamese.

Additional Resources Also in our offices we offer the free use of computers with internet access, printers, and a local phone line to assist your advocacy and research efforts.

Call toll free 888-896-3372.    ALL SERVICES ARE FREE.
